Quesnel Parkinson’s Support Group Spreading Awareness About This Complex Brain Disease

April is Parkinson’s Awareness month in Canada.

To help get the word out about this complex brain disease, members of the Quesnel Parkinson’s Support Group will be holding an informational meeting tomorrow (April 11) morning starting at 10 at the Dunrovin Park Lodge.

Co-facilitator for the Group, Tony Crosina said they don’t get a lot of questions from local residents that’s the main reason for this meeting so people who may have possible symptoms can understand what to look for and ask their Doctor about.

We’re just trying to get the word out.” Crosina said, “We don’t believe that a lot of people know what Parkinson’s is. We don’t believe a lot of people know whether or not they have it. We found several people just in the last week just by getting the word out locally.”

Crosina added that their Group can offer information from people who are going through this disease and it’s progression, and have access to supports from the BC Parkinson’s Society.

He noted that he has been a member of the Quesnel Parkinson’s Support Group for the last four years and is struggling with parts of the disease himself.

More than 100,000 Canadians live with Parkinson’s and 30 more are diagnosed every day.
