Grass Fire Quickly Extinguished By Quesnel Fire Department

The Quesnel Fire Department was quick to respond to a grass fire earlier this (Thursday) afternoon.

Fire Chief Ron Richert said at approximately 1:40 crews were on scene on Ewing Avenue near the City’s pedestrian Bridge.

Upon arrival we had a fairly large area on an embankment that was threatening a building. Crews quickly got on scene and extinguished the fire.”

Richert said there was no damage done to any nearby structures as they were able to suppress the fire quickly.

The fire is still under investigation and RCMP is also looking into it’s cause.

Richert noted that it’s only April but some of these areas that get direct sunlight are getting to that point where they are already dry and we saw that today with this quite a large grass fire because of it.
