New Manager for Cariboo Fire Centre

Where there’s smoke, there’s fire and Krista Dunleavey and her crew to put it out.

Dunleavey was appointed the new Manager of the Cariboo Fire Centre at the end of November 2015 and was previously the Deputy Fire Centre Manager when Curtis Isfeld left to go to another position with their branch.

While she gets used to her new position, she’s also busy using the winter time to get ready for another fire season.

“The fire centre is still very busy in the winter,” Dunleavey says.

“We are planning for the upcoming fire season, for training and recall for our seasonal auxiliary crews and we do a lot of our prevention work during the winter months.”

“We are hoping that we don’t have a big fire season.”.

Dunleavey says she also hopes to bring the importance of fire safety to the school children along with Smokey The Bear in attendance.

When asked how construction was coming along for the new Cariboo Fire Centre that will be located at the Williams Lake Airport, Dunleavey says they hope to be in the building by September or October of this year.
