North Cariboo Arena Project Has a Name

A special naming ceremony was held in the sunshine in downtown Quesnel this afternoon.

The new North Cariboo Arena will now officially be known as the West Fraser Centre.

The ceremony, held across from the old arena, included a lot of young hockey players, politicians and appropriately representatives of West Fraser.

Ray Ferris is the Vice President of Wood Products with the company…

Ferris also talked about West Fraser’s beginnings on two-mile flat back in 1955 and how the company, despite growing across North America, has not forgotten about where it all began.

West Fraser, as part of getting the naming rights to the soon to be new facility, is donating 1-million dollars towards the project.

Construction on the new 16-hundred seat arena is expected to begin in the spring.
