Keeping outdoor enthusiasts safe while in the backcountry was the focal point of an avalanche awareness day workshop that was held this past saturday in 100 Mile House.
James Seeley, Manager of South Cariboo Search and Rescue, was pleased with the turnout at this annual event.
” We had about twenty people out to that workshop. We’re really happy to see people doing it and we’re hoping that it keeps growing and we get more people because the safer people are in the back country the easier it is on everybody”.
Those who did come out to their hall on Horse Lake Road had the the opportunity to practice with their avalanche equipment and learn how to recognize avalanche hazards.
