ICBC asking drivers to take extra care during Easter long weekend

Unpredictable weather and more people on the road is prompting ICBC’s reminder to take extra caution when driving.

Easter long weekend, which falls under the same time as spring break for students, is what could cause increased traffic on roadways that could pose challenges for drivers.

They said that on average, Easter long weekend sees one person killed with 578 injured in 2,176 crashes in the province.

On average in the North Central, which includes the Cariboo, 18 people are injured in 124 crashes every year over Easter long weekend.

Some tips ICBC provided to keep drivers safe include planning ahead, good rest, checking the vehicle, avoiding distractions, adjusting the driving for conditions, watch for motorcycles and wildlife.
