School Districts In The Cariboo Receiving Money For Maintenance Projects

The Province is providing $291.9 million for school maintenance projects.

Cariboo-Chilcotin School District 27 will receive just over $2.4 million for roofing upgrades at 100 Mile House and Mile 108 Elementary as well as Peter Skene Ogden Secondary.

HVAC upgrades at Tatla Lake Elementary-Junior Secondary, kitchen equipment and upgrade at Lake City Secondary, plus the District will be able to acquire four new buses.

Quesnel School  District 28 is getting $1.7 million to be used for exterior wall systems upgrades at Bouchie Lake Elementary School and electrical upgrades at Parkland Elementary.

The money will also go towards kitchen equipment and upgrade at Correlieu Secondary School, and for kitchen equipment at Ecole Red Bluff Lhtako Elementary, Riverview Elementary and Voyageur Elementary School.

As part of Budget 2024, the Province says this funding is an investment to help make schools more energy efficient, climate resilient and better able to support their school communities.

“Boards appreciate receiving funding through the annual facilities grant and for school maintenance,” Carolyn Broady, President BC School Trustees Association, said, “and we’ll continue to support future investments in our public schools.”
