Faculty Association Begins Limited Job Action

The Thompson Rivers University Faculty Association (TRUFA) is beginning limited job action following the expiration of a 72-hour strike notice.

President Tom Friedman says the job action begins with a ban on direct faculty communication with some of the senior administrators including the provost and the Vice President Academic’s Office.

“This is where the major academic decisions are made by the University and we want to highlight for our members that this is where we believe the problem lies,” he says.

“There hasn’t been faculty involvement in key academic decisions.”

Friedman maintains that the limited job action will not affect students.

Mediation begins this weekend.
