100 Mile House Councillor resigns for health reasons

The District of 100 Mile House announced that Councillor Ralph Fossum has resigned, citing health reasons.

Mayor Pinkney said in the release “Every member of Council chooses to serve because we are enthusiastic about our citizens and our community.”

“Councillor Fossum exemplifies this passion and has held strongly to serving every resident equally and being fiscally responsible throughout his tenure.”

A by-election will be held to fill the vacancy on Council, although a specific date hasn’t been set.

Nominations will be open in the coming months once Council appoints a Chief Election Officer.

Councillor Fossum was first elected in 1988, and has served for over five terms.

The full announcement can be found on the District of 100 Mile House’s website here.
