Cariboo region getting a gentle reminder that winter is still here

Snow is already falling in the Cariboo, with more expected accompanied by cooler temperatures until mid next week.

Today (February 24) is forecast to remain above freezing temperatures, but heading into Sunday until Tuesday it’ll dip below zero.

Meteorologist, Nam Lu says the cold snow coming from a cold front pushing down from the north.

“It will slide southeast across Interior BC, and for the Cariboo region, the main impact for the cold front will mostly be felt Sunday afternoon.”

“As the cold front moves through, we will see a pretty significant drop in temperatures.”

Lu says the Cariboo will start with anywhere from 2 to 4 degrees, but Sunday afternoon will drop to minus 3, continuing to go down to minus six by Tuesday.

She also warns about potential ice build up with the melting of snow and potential rain in parts of the region today, and parts of tomorrow as the cold temperatures roll in.

More information on the current and forecast weather can be found on Environment Canada’s website here.
