Alphonse Not Concerned About New Chief`s Views On New Prosperity

The Tribal Chair of the Tsilhqot’in National Government says they will welcome the new Chief of the new Chief of the Alexis Creek First Nation into the fold, despite his past views supporting the New Prosperity mine.

Chief Joe Alphonse also says Ervin Charleyboy made those comments while he was employed with Taseko.

He says if somebody is paying you you better be a supporter of the mine.

Alphonse says this is a new gig and he looks forward to working with him and that they would definitely welcome him into the chiefs circle of the Chilcotin nation.

Alphonse says as far as they’re concerned Taseko is a dead issue.

Six Chiefs make up the Tsilhqot’in National Government and Charleyboy is now one of them.

He won a close race against Clayton John Charleyboy in an election that was held on Friday. (Jan 8)
