100 Mile House RCMP have released the details surrounding an accident that knocked out power to thousands of residents.
Sergeant Brian Lamb says they were called to a single vehicle accident on the 6000 block of Horse Lake Road last Thursday (Feb 8) night.
He says the vehicle crashed into a power pole shearing it off and knocking down the lines.
“Police, Fire and Emergency Health Services attended. A male was found injured in the vehicle and had to be extracted by the Fire Department. Open alcohol containers were located and the male driver was believed to be impaired. The male was transported to hospital in Williams Lake for treatment of various injuries.”
Lamb says the man’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
He says a blood demand was made and complied with.
Police will be forwarding the blood sample for analysis to determine the alcohol content, and an investigation is continuing.
Power was knocked out to around 3,000 residents until around 6-30 the next day.
