One man has been arrested and items associated with a 3D-printed firearms operation were seized following a firearm trafficking investigation in Prince George.
In January, investigators from the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit – British Columbia (CFSEU-BC) Illegal Firearms Enforcement Team initiated the investigation after receiving information about alleged firearms trafficking.
On Monday, investigators executed search warrants on a residence in Prince George.
Items seized included:
- One 3D printer
- One loaded and fully assembled 3D printed firearm with an auto sear
- Numerous 3D printed frames, slides and magazines
- One rifle with an obliterated serial number
- Prohibited devices such as suppressors and extended magazines
- Ammunition
- US currency believed to be counterfeit
One man associated with the residence was arrested and released pending further investigation and potential criminal charges.
“The collaborative work by CFSEU-BC and partner agencies is key when developing strategies to mitigate criminal activity associated with organized crime,” said Sergeant Brenda Winpenny.
“3D printers, when used for a nefarious purpose puts public safety at risk. CFSEU-BC, along with our partners, utilize all enforcement and investigative strategies that speak to the overall effort to ensure public safety.”
