It doesn’t appear that there is a lot of opposition to the rezoning of the Grace Inn in downtown Quesnel for supportive housing.
Council gave second reading at last (Tuesday) night’s meeting.
Director of Development Services Tanya Turner was asked about the response to BC Housing’s consultation process.
“Having sat in the meeting, the feeling was there was a large proponent of individuals that were generally supportive of the project that were at the meeting. They did have questions about process and the timelines, but I would have to say there was nobody that provided any kind of real objections.”
Tuner noted that the next step is an open house to give the public another change to ask questions.
That will take place in City Council Chambers at 4-30 on February 20th.
It will be followed by a public hearing at 5-30 and then possible third reading.
BC Housing currently leases 20 spaces in the hotel but would like to purchase it and redevelop it.
It says it will work with Council and the Housing Solutions Table, as well as with the business community, on what that might look like.
