Construction on Blackwater Mine west of Quesnel is over halfway complete

   Construction on the Blackwater Mine west of Quesnel is almost 60 percent complete as of December 31, 2023.
   Artemis Gold published its 4th quarter report today. (Tuesday)
   It says that approximately 640 hectares has been logged and cleared, and all access roads needed for phase one construction are now complete and operable.
   The company adds that construction of the site water management facilities, including the water management pond, and Davidson Creek diversion, is well advanced.
   Finally, it says that the work associated with the transmission line is progressing in accordance with the project schedule.
   Artemis Gold Chairman and CEO Steven Dean says “we remain focused on a disciplined approach to development and remain on track for the first gold pour in H2, 2024.”
   The company says more than 320 people are working on the project, with more than 30 percent identifying as Indigenous.
   The total workforce at the Blackwater Mine, including staff and contractors, surpassed 550 towards the end of December.
   The company says 84 percent of the 730-million dollar budget has been committed to contractors.
   The mine is about 160 kilometres west of Quesnel and 112 kilometres southwest of Vanderhoof, and sits on the traditional lands of the Lhoosk’uz Dene (Kluskus) First Nation and the Ulkatcho (Anahim Lake) First Nation.
