More Temperature Records Expected To Be Broken This Week In The Cariboo

Record overnight lows continue to be set in the Cariboo.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Armel Casatellan said in Williams Lake it was 10.5 degrees at midnight.

“Quesnel was 12.7 degrees between midnight and one beating the 1997 record of 11.5. On the 27 of January Quesnel it was 2.8 degrees overnight and the previous record was 1.3 in 1984.”

More overnight low records will be made on Wednesday and Thursday according to Castellan as they are forecasted to be 10 and 6 degrees.

For highs yesterday in Castellan noted in Quesnel it was 12.4 degrees not quite high enough to beat the 1931 13.3 degrees.

Williams Lake yesterday was 11.1 beating the old record of 9.9 in 1989.

Garbage truck fire gets put out quickly in Quesnel, one in hospital

A garbage truck caught on fire on Larch Avenue off Highway 97 in South Quesnel. The Quesnel Fire Chief says the driver of the truck was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, but otherwise is okay.

Prescribed burn near Brunson Lake expected to start October 21st

Another prescribed burn is scheduled to begin later this week.
