Thousands of personalized license plates rejected by ICBC in 2023

2FAS4U, OMG MOV, and UNDCVR were just a few personalized licence plates rejected last year.

In a release from ICBC, they said that out of 9,500 request, around 2,600 personalized licence plate slogans were rejected, which is 27 percent.

Manager of Insurance Operations, Sandy-Anne Dodig said “ICBC’s dedicated team meticulously reviews every application to ensure each slogan is appropriate to display on a B.C. licence plate,”

“A personalized licence plate can be a creative way to express yourself, and we encourage drivers to review the criteria and guidelines on icbc.com prior to applying.”

Slogans are rejected if they fail to meet the guidelines and criteria or if they’re deemed objectionable, such as being discriminatory, sexually suggestive, abusive or derogatory in any language.

Other slogans that were denied by ICBC include YSO SLO, TARGET, and UNSAFE.

More information on the rejected personalized licence plates can be found on ICBC’s website here.
