The Federal Court has made its ruling on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s use of the Emergencies Act during the two thousand and twenty two trucker convoy in downtown Ottawa.
Justice Richard G. Mosley says the move was “unreasonable” and outside the scope of the law.
He wrote that the decision didn’t bear the “hallmarks of reasonableness, justification, transparency and intelligibility.”
The case was brought forward by the Canadian Civil Liberties Association.
Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland says the government will be appealing the ruling.
