With just over 5 months before a traditional summer event takes place in Williams Lake a call for acts from around the Cariboo and the province is going out to be a part of it.
Member of the Community Arts Council of Williams Lake and Manager of Performances in the Park Venta Rutkauskas said registration online officially opens every January and closes in early March.
Other than just musicians, over the last few years she says they’ve been looking for and welcoming a diverse range of performers.
We asked how that has been received.
“I think because everyone is really familiar with the fact that we’ve always been known known to do musical acts more so that it really hasn’t really crossed the radar of too many folks from the theatre, spoken word, but we are working on dance and had a couple of dance group. So I think you may find we have a few surprises up our sleeves for 2024.”
Rutkauskas said last year was great and she was really happy lucking out on the weather as that’s always a bonus.
“So we cross our fingers and hope that we get the same awesome crowds out. We’re just so stoked about how how multi-generational our audience is, that’s another thing to look forward too.”
The Community Arts Council of Williams Lake anticipates a season, like every season, of performances that will satisfy many tastes.
Performances in the Park starts July 4th in Boitanio Park and runs every Thursday night for 8 weeks.
