For the second time in two days the 150 Mile Volunteer Fire Department responded to a structure fire.
Just after 11:30 on Friday morning, ten members and 2 apparatus were on scene at a mobile home on Old Road in Sugar Cane.
Incident Commander J J Bast says it was reported that smoke was coming from underneath from trying to thaw frozen pipes.
After a thorough secondary search for any fire extension, Bast says it was discovered that an overloaded electrical plug had caused a second potential fire start however crews were able to save the mobile home.
“This serves as another reminder to make sure to have smoke detectors in your houses.” Bast said, “We’d also like to remind residents to not overload electrical circuits as temperatures drop.”
On Thursday morning (January 11) just before 7 the department was on scene for several hours in 150 Mile House along with mutual aid from the Miocene Volunteer Fire Department and Williams Lake Fire Department.
An outbuilding and home were destroyed.
