The number of safe rides home was up again this past weekend in Williams Lake.
Operation Red Nose Organizer Deborah Pickering said getting drivers and their vehicles home safely has steadily been climbing since they started offering the service back on November 24th.
“We had Camp Likely come out Friday night, Willie Dye joined us and drove with one of the teams. We did 23 rides on Friday, pretty close to the same as last year. On Saturday night we had the Cariboo Chilcotin Youth Fiddlers Society in for drivers, and even MLA Lorne Doerkson stopped in to say hello to all the volunteers. We also had a couple of extra teams and we gave 36 rides so it was pretty steady.”
Operation Red Nose in Williams Lake has given a total of 140 which Pickering says is pretty much on par compared to this same time last year.
This Friday and Saturday night (December 15 & 16) will be the last full weekend for this service before they shut down for Christmas then they’ll be back on the road one last time this holiday season for New Year’s Eve.
