Crisis Line Training Available In The New Year In Williams Lake

A 3 day Crisis Line Responder Training workshop is coming up next month in Williams Lake.

Usually offered three times a year over a few weeks, Crisis Line Supervisor Evan Tantanetti said this particular workshop has never been done before and they’re excited to give it a try and see how it goes.

Tantanetti said participants will be taught all the required content to become a Crisis Line Responder.

“We’ll go through all the necessary skills that they would use on the line. We teach about all the different kinds of mental health that they’ll come across. They’ll also get a chance to listen to calls and interact with activities.”

Rhane Brunsch who is also a Supervisor, noted there is a great need for Crisis Line Responders.

“We’re looking for about 15 to 20 people and and right now we do have significantly less than that.”

“It’s been really challenging for everyone to find volunteers since COVID and we’re really trying to get this out there and reach as many people as we can. I you really want to do something that supports other people and gain some experience in mental health this is a really good opportunity for you,” Tantanetti said.

This workshop runs January 25th to 28th and is supported by Canadian Mental Health Association Cariboo-Chilcotin Branch, Provincial Health Services Authority and the Interior Crisis Line Network Williams Lake.
