A new Cariboo Chilcotin Emergency Notification System will be coming in the new year.
In a release from the Cariboo Regional District, The new system will be using the Voyent Alert platform to send notifications to residents directly impacted by an evacuation alert or order, utility service disruptions, and other emergency alerts.
Manager of Communications, Gerald Pinchbeck explains the benefit residents will see.
“On the front end, it makes it much easier for people to manage their information online, by reducing barriers.” says Pinchbeck.
“Instead of having to create a unique username and password specific to that system, you register with an email, and using two-factor authentication, receive a log-in link to access your information online and manage it from there.”
Anyone who is signed up to the current system will automatically have their information transferred to the new one.
The official change over will be in February 2024, and a test will be conducted after that to provide an opportunity to test the system and ensure contacts are transferred over.
Resident’s who aren’t signed up are still able to do so through the Cariboo Regional District’s website here.
