Halloween Fireworks to continue and get a boost in Williams Lake

It was made official at Williams Lake City Council that the Halloween fireworks will continue, after getting community feedback.

The City put out a survey that had 924 responses, with 90 percent of respondents saying they attended the event, and showed that 77 percent of people wanted the fireworks to continue.

On top of the fireworks continuing, the budget of the event will be doubled, matching the budget from 2022.

The budget will go from the usual $6,000 to $12,000 as the average overall respondents of the survey were for the increase.

However voting at the Council meeting was as close as it could get, coming down to 4-3 in favour of the increased budget.

The survey for the Halloween firework event was released due to City council receiving letters about the noise impacting wildlife, pets, and humans.
