Turkey Day Raises A Lot Of “Scratch” For The 100 Mile Food Bank

Who says Turkeys can’t fly?

They were coming in faster than they could be counted this morning during the Annual Turkey Day Fundraiser at our sister station Country 840 in 100 mile House.

Morning Man Chris Adams said each year the community comes together and is so generous that we wound up with 460 turkey pledges with each being a donation of $25.

We wound up with at our last count with, of course we get more trickling in as the week goes on, but we’re at 460 turkeys which is over $10,000.”

Adams added that he had plenty of help as well to man the phones and read the pledges on air.

“We had our MLA Lorne Doerkson, we had Donna Barnett, a bunch of folks from the community around the table just having a good time reading the pledges and they were coming in fast and furious. This was our 35th and we’re looking forward to next year. Some these folks have been coming to Turkey Day almost since it started back in 1988 so it’s pretty amazing that they come back year after year. It’s such a good time and always glad to see them and always good to have them around the table.”

Adams noted that the final total for last year after it was all said and done was 567, and doesn’t think they’ll get there this year but you never know.

All money raised during the Annual Turkey Day Fundraiser goes to the 100 Mile Food Bank for their Christmas Hampers.
