Week 2 Of Operation Red Nose In Williams Lake More Than Doubles Week 1

Operation Red Nose saw an increase in their number of safe rides home this past weekend in the Lake City.

Organizer Deborah Pickering said it started off slow Friday night as they only gave 14 rides but things really picked up Saturday night.

“I was surprised Friday was a bit slow because there were a few parties going on in town and I think a lot of people are responsible and are arranging rides home before they go out. Saturday night our rides started at 9 o’clock when our doors opened. We hit the road immediately, the phone’s were ringing off the hook and we gave 43 rides compared to 14 rides on the Friday night.”

To date over the first two weekends of this Holiday campaign, Operation Red Nose has given a total of 81 rides.

They’ll be back on the road again this coming Friday (December 8) and Saturday (December 9) nights from 9 pm to 3 am giving Williams Lake drivers and their vehicles safe rides home.

With just this and next weekend to go before Operation Red Nose offers their last evening of service on New Years Eve, Pickering said she believes that each of those nights is going to be busier than the last.
