Don’t drink and drive.
It’s the same message RCMP are out with every year on this day as people get ready to celebrate the arrival of 2016.
Quesnel RCMP Sergeant Darren Dodge says they will have extra resources out tonight to make sure people get home safe.
We asked him if police were concerned that New Year’s Eve falls on a long weekend this year…
“No, I don’t think so. As the years have progressed, people are well aware we’re out there and I think the general public are more apt to plan ahead and make sure that they get home safely.”
Dodge says as a result he feels the number of impaired driving incidents have diminished over the past few years.
Having said that he says they will be conducting road-checks throughout the day and the night.
