Cariboo Friendship Society raising funds for PEACE program

The Cariboo Friendship Society in Williams Lake is raising money for their PEACE program, with help through the holiday season.

PEACE, which stands for prevention, education, advocacy, counselling and empowerment, is a free confidential program that supports children ages 3 to 18 who’ve experienced violence in their home.

Social Programs Supervisor, Jenna Seymour a program like this can be important for kids.

“It’s one on one counselling with a registered PEACE program coordinator that can help with both children and parents for a multitude of different issues, stemming from children who may have witnessed violence.” says Seymour.

“It’s completely confidential, and they do provide a lot of support and education.”

Williams Lake and District Chamber of Commerce will be holding a Spark into Christmas event, which will light up the Discovery Centre’s balcony, and will also be collecting donations for the program.

The Chamber will help raise money starting December 1st to the 15th at the Discovery Centre, with the Cariboo Friendship Society taking donations at the front desk.
