There Are Angel Trees Amongst Us In Williams Lake

Once again the Salvation Army in Williams Lake is supporting hundreds of children in the community with Christmas toys this holiday season.

For several years, their Angel Trees have been making a difference for families in need so they could have something to put under their own trees.

Family Services and Community Outreach Director Tamara Robinson said when families come to them to register, an angel is created for each child in the home 18 and under.

Parents give the Salvation Army a suggestion of which gift their child would like, the things they would have liked to have bought for them if they had the financial means to do so.

Angel Trees are located in four different stores in the Lake City, Winners, Walmart, The Realm of Toys, and Kit and Kaboodle, and explained how shoppers can be a part of this Yuletide campaign.

Each Angel is marked with a hamper ID number and the age and gender of the child with the gift suggestion. Once it’s purchased, the person who buys it just needs to bring it to the customer service desk at each location and we come daily to pick them up. As the Angels come to us they are allocated to the proper hamper ID number for distribution day. We have lots of kids this year and many Angels on the trees.”

Robinson said over the years we’ve had a wonderful response from the community.

This year it’s a little slow to take off, so I’m a little nervous about that but I have no doubt that the community will respond as they always do. I thank Williams Lake for supporting us with the Angel Trees as well as the businesses in town that allow us to put our tree in their establishments.”

The Williams Lake Salvation Army Angel Trees will be available to those who want to donate until December 15th.
