Ridership Up For The First Weekend Of Operation Red Nose In Williams Lake

Numbers were up from last year for the first weekend of Operation Red Nose in Williams Lake.

Organizer Deborah Pickering said typically they are the two slowest nights of this annual campaign giving riders and their vehicles safe rides home on Friday’s and Saturday’s over the holiday season.

We started out waiting for the phone to ring but on the first night (Friday) we gave out 8 rides this year and last year on our first night we only gave out two rides. It was a chance for the volunteers to kind of get their feet wet, even though you know what to do you have to do it again to re-acquaint yourself with the process. On Saturday night we started out really slow wondering when the phones would start to ring but they did and we gave out 18 rides.”

Pickering noted that on the first Saturday night last year Operation Red Nose gave out 8 rides and looking at these numbers she feels like it’s going to be a busy season.

Operation Red Nose will be back on the streets again in Williams Lake this coming Friday and Saturday nights to bring you and your vehicle home safely for the holidays from 9 pm to 3 am.

To book your safe ride home on those evenings call 250-392-22-22.
