Night One For Operation Red Nose In Williams Lake

Operation Red Nose hits the streets tonight (November 24) to kick off their annual Holiday Campaign of getting you and your vehicle home safely.

Organizer Debra Pickering said their service is offered Friday and Saturday nights from 9 to 3 am until December 16th and then again on New Years Eve.

With having five teams available each evening Pickering has this advice.

I ask callers to think about calling about 30 minutes before they actually want to leave in case we are quite busy then we can put their request for a ride in the queue. Maybe leave a little earlier than everybody else. If you’re at a company party for instance, if there’s going to be a group of people calling for rides maybe call a little sooner and then we can kind of even that out because we are working with five, maybe six teams all together for the whole city and area.”

All donations received by using Operation Red Nose benefit local youth programs.

Those organizations include the Cariboo Chilcotin Gymnastics Association, Camp Likely, the U-18 Girls Minor Hockey Association, and Cariboo Chilcotin Youth Fiddlers Society.

Operation Red Nose is now in it’s 38th year serving Williams Lake and is hosted by Williams Lake Community Policing.
