Woman charged in connection with large drug bust to go to trial

A trial date has been set for the accused in a large meth bust in Quesnel.

56-year old Helen Mercieca is due back in Supreme Court on September 16th of next year.

Mercieca was ordered to stand trial following a Preliminary Inquiry in September of this year.

She’s charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The Quesnel RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit, along with general members, conducted a traffic stop in February of 2022.

Police say a man and a woman were in possession of one kilogram of methamphetamine that was coming up from the Lower Mainland.

The man was not charged.
