100 Mile Lions Club Becomes A Health Star With Generous Donation To Starry Nights

Christmas came early for the South Cariboo Health Foundation.

Following the Santa Claus parade on Saturday afternoon they were given a generous donation towards their Starry Nights Fundraiser during the lighting up of the hospital from one South Cariboo organization.

Public Relations and Fundraiser for the Foundation, Brenda Devine, said it was nice to have that injection of that kind of money.

“The 100 Mile Lions Club gave us $11,100 to go towards the purchase of a monitor for the patients in the 100 Mile House District General Hospital which will be about $86,000. It’s a lot for a club to come up with that kind of money. I think it’s really special and it shows the importance of having this hospital and a lot of the equipment we’ve fundraise for.”

Devine added that clubs are trying to put money towards all sorts of things in these difficult times.

“People are struggling a bit this year and I’m always amazed that they are still able to come up with some dollars to help us all out, it’s wonderful.”

Devine said since the Starry Nights Fundraiser began they’ve been able to raise 20-thousand dollars so far to help get them closer to their goal of purchasing a new patient monitoring computer that provides important information to check on a patient on an hour to hour basis.
