Quesnel’s Board of Education has a new Chair

Two School Trustees have swapped positions on Quesnel’s Board of Education.

An electronic vote prior to this week’s meeting revealed that Lisa Boudreau, the former Vice-Chair, was now the new Chair, replacing Tony Goulet who was now the Vice-Chair.

Trustee Julie-Anne Runge was also in the running for both of those positions.

Boudreau was very appreciative to have the trust of her peers.

“I am feeling so grateful to be given this opportunity from our Board, and just that we are pretty lucky in Quesnel to have such a fantastic Board full of many different unique talents and diverse opinions We’re very fortunate here to have strong support of our staff, and we’re just a healthy Board, it’s really great.”

Boudreau says she feels that being Vice-Chair was a great stepping stone.

She says she feels there are two main issues in the District right now.

“I think employees in every aspect right now are hard to obtain and hard to keep just as a society in general, so I think that the troubles that we may face as a School District are not much different than say healthcare, or retail, or otherwise. I think that in 2023 a lot of people in general, community members, staff, students alike in every aspect and every job are struggling with mental health, whether that is anxiety, stress, depression. It’s a very generalized concern I have as the community as a whole, but also we want to make sure that our staff and students are feeling good and feeling safe at work.”

Boudreau calls education her passion, and she is very excited for the opportunity.
