Fox Mountain Road Wild Land Fire Quickly Responded To By Williams Lake Fire Department

The Williams Lake Fire Department responded earlier this week to a wild land fire on Ross Road on Fox Mountain.

Just after 4:30 on Monday afternoon (November 13) we were dispatched to Ross Road.” Deputy Fire Chief Cory Boyd said, “There had been a registered burn there just the previous week and basically we spotted dozens of small spot fires within that registered burn that looks like they were piles that had been smoldering. All the piles were approximately a metre by metre up to about 3 metres by metres and none of them were high risk of spreading.”

Boyd said they were on scene until 6:30 when at that point they contacted the contractor that was in charge to come up so they could monitor the fires.

We responded with two engines and two tenders, and 18 total firefighters. Homes were never at risk and there was no damage. When we left there were still a few spot fires that we weren’t able to gain access to but the contractor did have people on site that were monitoring it.”
