Remembrance Day ceremonies were held across the Cariboo earlier today, drawing in hundreds.
In Williams Lake, The day began with a service at the Gibraltar room with a march to the cenotaph for the outdoor service, where wreaths were placed in front.
Second Vice of the Legion Executive and Master of Ceremonies, Walt Cobb says the day is extremely important across Canada.
“With the troubled times we’re in today, we have to remember the many that gave up their lives, but for those that fought for us so that we’ve got the freedom’s we have today.” says Cobb.
“Without them, I don’t know where we would be, and as the world turns these days, it’s becoming more and more scary from my point of view. We have to remember those who fought for us.
Cobb was very appreciative of those that did manage to attend the ceremony at City hall.
He says it shows how people are paying attention to what’s happening in the world, and hoping that we don’t have those kinds of things again.
100 Mile House held a parade, with the service at the Community Hall followed by an open house at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 260.
Quesnel also began with a parade, with service at the cenotaph where they put up flags and had the laying of the wreaths.
