Fatal Collisions Near Quesnel and 100 Mile House

An 80-year old male from the Quesnel area has been identified as the victim in Sunday’s fatal crash south of Quesnel.

“At 1:29 pm RCMP were dispatched to an accident on Highway 97, 40km south of Quesnel,” RCMP Sgt. Darren Dodge said.

“A northbound car had attempted to pass a semitrailer and was struck by a southbound pickup.”

Dodge says the male-the driver of the northbound vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup, a 24-year old female, was taken to GR Baker Hospital in Quesnel for minor injuries and was released.

Dodge says it was snowing at the time of the accident but they are not sure at this point if the weather played a role in the crash.

He says alcohol was not a factor.

RCMP say they have also ruled out alcohol as a factor in a single vehicle collision on Highway 97 northbound near Spring Lake Road Monday morning.

Police say there were several occupants inside a truck which rolled at approximately 10:00 am.

One adult male was pronounced dead on scene.

Both collisions remain under investigation.
