Encampment to be removed behind Williams Lake’s Station House

The encampment behind the Station House will now be removed by BC Rail.

Confirmation came from the tail end of Tuesday’s (November 7th) council meeting, which was said to be dismantled within the next week or so.

Chief Administrative Officer, Gary Muraca says the City doesn’t have a hand in he removal.

“The private property owner has recognized safety concerns with individuals crossing the track, as well as getting numerous complaints from the community about the activities that are happening in that encampment,” says Muraca.

“and I think they are going to take action towards removing that encampment.”

As to relocation, Muraca says the private property owner has no commitment on where they can go.

However, Council has said individuals looking for temporary overnight shelter, are able to go to the designated area at Boitanio Park.
