Supreme Court Justice hands down decision in South Cariboo shooting trial

The accused in a shooting incident in the South Cariboo has been found guilty of a lesser charge.

48-year old Scott Bradley was facing a charge of discharging a firearm with intent to wound or disfigure, but Supreme Court Justice Church found him guilty instead of the intentional discharge of a firearm while being reckless as to the safety of another person.

He was also found guilty of possession of a firearm contrary to an order.

Bradley is due back in court on January 8th of next year to set a date for sentencing.

His trial, which ran for about a week and half back in August, ended in a reserved decision.

100 Mile House RCMP were called out to a rural area along Highway 24 in the Roe Lake area on May 4, 2019.

Upon arrival, police say they discovered a male with a gunshot wound to his hip.

RCMP said at the time that the victim and the suspect had got into a heated argument after consuming alcohol, which led to a shooting.

The victim was first taken to 100 Mile Hospital before being transferred to Williams Lake for surgery.
