The suspect in a suspicious death in the South Cariboo is no longer facing charges.
The BC Prosecution Service confirms that a manslaughter charge against 66-year old Merrilee Hudson has been stayed.
It says the Crown Counsel with conduct of the file received further information related to the case and decided that the charge assessment standard was no longer met.
A two-part test to determine whether charges will be approved is applied.
One is whether there is a substantial likelihood of a conviction and the other is whether the public interest requires a prosecution.
That test continues to apply throughout the prosecution.
Hudson was charged in connection with an incident at a residence in Sheridan Lake in August of 2021 where a 69-year old man was found deceased.
