Troll Mountain receives $1 million from Destination Development Fund

It was announced that Troll Mountain would be getting $1 million for new additions.

The money comes from the province’s Destination Development Fund through the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport, which will go towards a new lift to access an additional east-facing peak.

Cariboo Regional District Chair, Margo Wagner says this will be a project that takes time.

“They can really work on that in the summer when there’s no snow, so I’m anticipating that it will take a while.” says Wagner.

“However, they’ve known for a while that they’re gonna get the money, so hopefully they’ve kind of started some preparations so they can get it done, because there’s usually a bit of a timeline on these grants.”

Troll Mountain had to apply for this grant, which the CRD was the government body to represent it.

Wagner says a grant such as this doesn’t come very often.

A project such as this could have a huge impact for the community and Troll Mountain, because with upgrades and additions, the site can become more popular.
