BC Transit provides safety tips for families this Halloween

Safety is important during Halloween, and BC Transit is sharing tips for trick or treaters.

Some tips include being visible, crossing safely, helping one another, know the neighbourhood, and staying alert sounds and sights.

Senior Media Relations and Public Affairs Advisor, Jamie Weiss says kids are able to use the buses when needing help.

“The bus is a safe place. That’s something we always want to remind people, and you can talk to your kids about this, if for some reason they get separated and they don’t know where they are and they get confused, they can always hop on a bus and talk to their driver.” says Weiss.

“Our bus drivers are in constant communication with their T-Comm, and then they can connect with their local police.”

Weiss added that the safety tips also apply to parents, and says they should look to add reflectors or lights onto costumes when trick or treating.

Kids are also able to go to the BusReady website, where there are educational activities and videos to get into the Halloween spirit.

BC Transit also encourages people to take transit when trick or treating, as children 12 and under are able to ride for free.
