Quesnel City Council secures almost half a million dollars in funding for the airport

Quesnel City Council will be getting almost half a million dollars for a new piece of equipment at the airport.

Council unanimously agreed to enter into an agreement to access $491,500 at this week’s meeting.

Jeff Norburn is the Director of Community Services.

“The purpose of this report is to obtain a resolution of support to enter into an agreement with Transport Canada to obtain a grant under the Airport Capital Assistance Program or ACAP for the replacement of a sweeper at the Quesnel Regional Airport. We submitted an application under the program for the equipment and received confirmation this week that the grant was successful. In order to proceed we require a certified resolution to enter into the contribution agreement with the federal government.

Norburn went on to say that there was no impact to the City’s budget as the grant was expected to cover 100 percent of the cost of the project.
