Quesnel businesses honoured for their hard work

   The 2023 Business Excellence Awards were held in Quesnel on Saturday (Oct 21) night at Seniors’ Centre.
   James Godsoe was named this year’s Business Person of the Year.
   James is the owner of Marlo Logging.
   There were 16 nominees in this category.
   The award for Business of the Year for more than 10 employees was shared by Richbar Nursery Golf and Gardens and Aroma Foods.
   The Business of the Year for fewer than 10 employees went to Claytons Funeral Directors.
   That category had a whopping 25 nominees.
   Kathy Somerville, the Manager of the Quesnel & District Chamber of Commerce, says there were a record number of nominees this year with 126.
   “I think that really makes a statement because it’s talking about the service that people are receiving, these customers are receiving.  It’s talking about the efforts that these business are doing t upgrade their business and make it look fresher, newer, more updated.”
   Tony Goulet, the Executive Director of the Quesnel Tillicum Society, won the Social Leadership Award.
   Kosters’ Farm & Garden won the new Agriculture Excellence Award.
   Jessica Goodman from Extra Foods Pharmacy was recognized for Outstanding Customer Service in a category that had 29 nominees.
   The Sage Mule Co. was named New Business of the Year.
  Other winners included TL Design for Home Based Businesses, Downtown Tirecraft received the Greatest Improvement Award, Quesnel Community Living Association won the Diverse & Inclusive Employer Award, and the Billy Barker Days Society got the nod for Excellence in Tourism.

BCGEU strike headed to mediation
