Cariboo to see dip in temperatures next week

It may be time to break out the sweaters as temperatures are expected to drop as the new week approaches.

The cold temperatures rolling into the Cariboo is due to winds from the north bringing in cooler temperatures, along with an arctic front.

Temperatures in 100 Mile House is looking to be a little warmer than Williams Lake and Quesnel, however Meteorologist, Ken Dosanjh says it’s all depending on the arctic front.

“The solutions we’re seeing are diverging quite a bit. It really depends on how far south the arctic front goes.” says Dosanjh.

“At this moment, looking at our temperatures above, we do start to notice kind of this delineation between 100 Mile House up to Prince George, where we do start to see a bit of a temperature variation.”

Dosanjh added that the thin line of temperature variation could shift north or south, and could anticipate a drop in temperature over 100 Mile House.

The Cariboo could also see some snow, which is expected on Monday, though Dosanjh says it will most likely be along the Cariboo Mountains.

With the temperatures being so low, he noted that the snow could stick to the ground.

As to when the cooler temperatures will leave, Dosanjh mentioned that it’s too difficult to tell, because of the diverging solutions early in the week.

More information on the current and future weather can be found on Environment Canada’s website here.
