Cariboo Chilcotin MLA, Lorne Doerkson announced on social media that he’ll once again run for the position.
The original interest that led him to run the fist time was centred around land use issues that the region has been facing.
While this is still one of Doerkson’s passions as an MLA, there’s another reason why he’s running again.
“Recently I was appointed to the Shadow Minister roll of EMCR, which is Emergency Management Climate Readiness,” says Doerkson.
“and of course I’m very passionate about responses to disaster in certainly the Cariboo-Chilcotin, but the province overall.”
Doerkson added that it was a real reason to commit to try and get re-elected again for another term.
He’ll also look to bring over infrastructure plans from his first term, which he says has been a tough challenge, but has seen some success.
This has been worked on along side various governments such as the Cariboo Regional District, and different Municipalities.
Doerkson will be running for BC United, and the provincial election is scheduled for Saturday, October 19th, 2024.
