Things looking Positive for 2016 says Chair of Finance Committee

The Chair of the Finance Committee says the City of Williams Lake has really started to turn the corner

Councillor Scott Nelson says things are very positive for next year after reflecting on 2015.

“We brought in our first budget at 0% and we brought in a 0% tax increase on the utilities as well,” he said.

“In 2016, we’re targeting 0% percent again and zero on the utilities and it’s looking very, very good. I just really want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and looking forward to getting through 2016.”

Nelson says the City undertook a number of initiatives to target the 0% tax increase including reducing capital expenditures and a 2% reduction in administrative costs.

He says they are anticipating in targeting five and a half million dollars in savings for the City over a five year period.
