Tips to have a ER Free Holiday Season

Medical Professionals across the Cariboo are reminding individuals how to have an ER free holiday season.

“I’m going to say two of the most common things we see at this time of year in the ER are going to be medical problems related to maybe overindulgence-drinking too much, eating too much,” said Cariboo Memorial Hospital ER physician Dr. Mike Garrard.

“So we would urge people to enjoy themselves, but be moderate in their approach to these things.”

Garrard says another common reason is personal situations where individuals may experience mental health problems.

“This is the time of year where because of the emphasis on family a lot of people who are maybe in situations of crisis, or find themselves alone and feel very alienated,” he said.

“We urge the public to remember their family but also maybe remember of those in crisis and reach out and lend a hand.”
