It’s the last weekend call for Operation Red Nose in Williams Lake before volunteers take a break to celebrate Christmas.
Community Safety Coordinator Dave Dickson, says this week will be the last before they resume operations on New Year’s Eve.
“December 18th and 19th will be operational but then we not be running the 25th, the 26th even though my phone will ring,” he said.
“Our volunteers have families.”
Dickson goes onto say that last weekend was one of their busiest with volunteers giving out the most rides in the program’s history.
“Usually Friday nights are a little slower than Saturday nights,” he said.
“Friday night we had a good turnout of volunteers and we did 25 rides, giving 41 people a ride home. Then on Saturday night; that’s been the busiest night we’ve ever had on record in Williams Lake. We had 71 rides and 135 people.”
Dickson says that equates to 1,067 kilometers.
Operation Red Nose runs from 9 pm until 3 am.
