River Valley reopens today as phase three concludes

The City of Williams Lake announced that the last portion of the River Valley will be open to the public today.

The River Valley was closed due to the flooding back in April 2020, which ended up costing millions of dollars in repairs for trails, roadways, City infrastructure and more.

While the River Valley is reopened, Chief Administrative Officer Gary Muraca says there are parts still being worked on.

“I think that you’ll see it as still ongoing for the rest of this year, maybe a little bit more into the following year depending on where we get, prior to winter coming and stuff like that,” says Muraca.

“but it’s going to be very little if anything remaining next year.”

Muraca added that some of the work still needing to be done include habitat restoration around bridge sites.

He says that for the most part, people visiting the River Valley trail shouldn’t be affected by the work.
